About this deal

The journey casts him into deep waters, as he discovers wild currents of magic within him--currents that will either drown him or make him something more than he was.

It was painful and sad to see Verity like that, especially because he was one of my favourite characters and I always hoped that he’d actually become the king of the Six Duchies and would live a long and nice life with Kettricken. A second German translation Der Nachtmagier in March 2010 from Heyne in paperback with ISBN 9783453525214, also available for kindle. I was mostly annoyed about the lack of character deaths because we haven’t really had any across three books so I was expecting one or two important characters to die in this one.I’m sure Chade didn’t know any better because he was raised being a tool himself, but damn I can’t forgive him for everything he did. The peace he had once again ripped away from him because other people decided that his work wasn’t done! However, they were very absent in this one as they also were in book two, so they didn’t feel like a very big threat and their defeat didn’t matter all that much to me.

Grab a copy of Assassin's Quest, boil your kettle and settle down for a thoroughly enthralling read! The pervading sense at the beginning of this book is hopelesness and Hobb must be commended for making this topic so enthralling to the reader despite this. Even Molly and Burrich were able to get away quite easily when, after chapters and chapters of hinting, Regal’s men finally found them.

After learning that Molly and Burrich have fallen in love while caring for her daughter, Fitz offers his own life on the condition that they be left alone. Some people were clearly disappointed and I would not beg to say they are wrong as its a very subjective thing. Reprinted once more by J'ai lu in August 2009 with ISBN 9782290320211 and the earlier cover art by Vincent Madras but with new fonts/cover style. That we spend more time with the Fool and their relationship with Fitz deepens is an added bonus to what is already a fully immersive story. Like Fitz so eloquently said, he is ”a whining, spoiled child who schemed to take his older brothers' toys.

No worries – now I have a different recommendation to check out next time I’m craving an assassin story! I love how the possibility of Nettle being the last Farseer heir brought a rift between Fitz and his friends, and how it made Fitz care about something other than his uncles for once. I’m also a little bummed that so many new characters were introduced but gone again before we really got to know them.
