For starters, I got this recommendation from tictok after someone posted an excerpt about the main characters starting their love affair through letters shared in a book and I was like, "oh my goodness that sounds cute" the post even said that there was 10 out of 10 spice but both of those assumptions were wrong.

His girlfriend Bri just happened to be filming a video and caught the act on camera and so Xavier got caught. Xav then beat Logan up but we don’t even get his POV so we don’t know how it managed to get this far. But then she admits she’s Love and lies about who Zac is, I wished she exposed him, he was standing there staring at her in fear. I liked the fact that it was a bit realistic where rich boys do rich boy stuff and not behave like mafia. He cares deeply for his friends, is tortured because of the family situation he’s living, and despite the fact that he thinks he can’t love, he does with his whole heart. They also agreed to keep their identities until Vee accidentally finds out that she’s been corresponding and texting Xavier Emery. The ending was satisfying, and I’m already dying and hoping that she gives the secondary characters stories because I loved them. I wished that Aveena was not so judgemental and whiny, same as Xavier, i wished he was not so whiny. And i also liked the letter part of the book and how they communicate, when they finally found out about eachother, it was not awkward, it was very passionate and i really liked that.

One of my favourite elements of this book is that while Love and Zack are falling so seem Vee and Xav, never really knowing that they’re one and the same. Once upon a time, I had a dream the boy with the pretty blue eyes chose the nerd over the cheerleader…Then I woke up. They seem to be a mess but I just cant help but find their story amusing and it’s a “friends who are in love with eachother but will not admit it” trope. It’s so sad, this had a very promising start and I was entertained, but I am exhausted and hate Xav. was rushed up, after the letters were revealed in front of everyone and it was out that Xavier is Zac it just ended abruptly.

I love a good “pen pals” romance and while this one doesn’t span time and oceans it's fun to “watch” them begin to fall for one another through letters ESPECIALLY because they didn’t care for each other in the beginning.

The storyline was so beautiful and really had me engage with each character in the book especially Aveena. She was willing to lose everything to protect the man she loved even if it meant she might never truly get to keep him. I mean even if you decide to do that, how can you share some of your weirdest secrets with someone you don’t know? And Vee is a strong heroine, even if she’s been living her life in her gifted little sister’s shadow for years. They may not hate each other through the entire book but they don’t even really KNOW who each other is because they have been communicating through notes without knowing WHO the person on the other end is! I would absolutely pick up another book from this author, and I’m secretly hoping we get more from this world.

But the rules were clear: we can never know who we’re talking to, and the confessions can never, ever get out. Now here’s something you should know: while Vee’s deepest confession was that she slept with her sisters boyfriend; xav confessed that he saw his mother sleeping with a minor. Also, the fact, how one could spill those things on paper and put it in a book in the public library and expect no one to find it (other than the person it was meant for off course).

So I’m supposed to believe that Xav feels things for L but he doesn’t even question that Lacey is L.
