By setting my light meter to 320 ISO it helps me stay more in the green box below, erring on the side of overexposure, which film can handle a lot better than being underexposed (see the left muddy size of the chart below).

Having shot a lot with 400-ISO films in the past, I thought I liked a bit of grain to give the resulting images that grainy characteristic so distinct to film photography. Our inventory includes a variety of 35mm and 120 films for purchase, as well as film development services.Kodak Portra 400 is an ISO 400/27° daylight-balanced professional colour negative films introduced in 1998 and made originally for portrait and wedding applications. Capture Moments: Each of the 36 exposures on this roll is an opportunity to capture moments that resonate, creating a visual narrative that's uniquely yours. I think this film has been shot to death in California featuring people with skateboards or people at the beach.

Consistent and reliable performance: This film is known for its consistent and reliable performance, which means you can count on it to deliver stunning results every time. With a fine grain structure and excellent sharpness, this film is a favourite among professional and amateur photographers alike. Compared to the likes of Ektar, I find Portra gives a more realistic look to life with better skin tone reproduction, whereas Ektar can have quite a blue cast. The pictures looked amazing, the creativity of Jimmy was exceptional never wasting a moment always capturing every minute of the day.

As much as we raved about how versatile and how much latitude Portra 400 has, it still can be underexposed.

Kodak Portra 400 provides genuinely excellent film latitude, equal to, or better than that offered by Fuji’s Pro 400H line of films. It is loved by experienced film shooters for its accurate skin tones, sharp focus, fine grain structure and superior flexibility in exposure. No matter how bad you think the shoot goes, this film performs on the job, and renders beautiful tones post dev/scanned. The resulting photos might not be the best to judge the skin tone that the film produces as the flash went off, but what I can say is that even with the flash off I still like the skin tone it produces. I'm really glad for the way I've tested the Portra 400, as it really covers many different shooting conditions. The unique colour palette has made it an especially popular choice for portraiture and editorial work. The Kodak Portra 400 Colour Film / 120 is a colour negative film great for portraits, fashion and commercial shoots. Choose KODAK PROFESSIONAL PORTRA Films for natural skin tones, ideal colour, and finer grain in every situation. Colour Excellence: Portra 400 is celebrated for its exceptional colour rendition, capturing your subjects with true-to-life vibrancy and depth. The light gets a lot softer (meaning the area of the brightest parts are much closer to the darker parts of a scene).
