Description

Despite its themes, To Kill a Mockingbird has been subject to campaigns for removal from public classrooms, often challenged for its use of racial epithets.

In whatever war that is going on, I was surprised that Doki was very affectionate with them and it occurred to me that, due to what was going on, she didn't want to put them up to killing as so to defend their turf or themselves but it was not like she could take them anywhere else or hide them for very long. Overall, I am not very motivated to look for more of this author's work, especially if the narrator is unchanged.

Unfortunately, they cannot defy the trope when it comes to Princess Emeraude, just like in the original series. Doki's affection towards them proved what no one thought, it proved that they were not expendable weapons and, that to her, they were precious and that, if she didn't have to, she wouldn't be making them do what they are doing. Peterson for providing another fast pace and exciting story with memorable characters and a realistic plot!

And for a change the narrator doesn't ruin the women in the story who are strong competent and equal to whatever is thrown their way, by using a silly voice when they speak. Well, depending on your definition of 'child', but Susan and Nanase probably weren't much more than 12 when, during a class-trip to France, they wind up being targeted by a Somewhat Different Vampire. In the first book you get a glimmer of the possibility that Nate, scarred and brutalized by a psychopathic interrogator in Honduras who is rescued by his partner Harvey might be ready to seek revenge when in the second book he learns the interrogator might be alive and well and still up to his brutality.Like I said in my comment earlier, I believe this is a fuzzy match to a detail the OP didn't have quite right, likely due to only hearing details second-hand. He’d just woken up, the first traces of dawn leaking through the cracks of the stacked logs that made up the wall of his small hut.
