I was intrigued then to see if the film would hold up on the small screen, with this 4K Blu-ray release from Warner Bros Home Entertainment. The 2D Blu-ray disc (identical to the one available separately) includes over an hour of supplemental features.of the adaptation and production process, pairing finished clips with early test footage, interviews, and candid on-set material. Why spends hundreds and hundreds on a massive tele and compromise on the sound which constitutes at least half the experience? Sure, it's frustrating that WB didn't greenlight the back-to-back filming of both parts, and ensure a swift conclusion to this epic journey and, yes, it's asking a lot for audiences to sit through two-and-a-half hours of scene-setting, political intrigue and interstitial action only to get to an 'intermission' that could potentially last two or three years. Past adaptations felt the understandable need to introduce everyone all at once without regard for their place in the story. You don’t hire a massive cast of in-demand actors for one film and leave it to hope they’re going to be available in a year or two to film the next installment without some kind of guarantees attached.
