Warning: contains spoilers! Read it HERE. I mean I don’t consciously think of that when I’m writing a song but it is something that seems to happen. For example, when I wrote my book I had a lot of people come up to me on the street and talk to me about the book specifically because they feel like it gave them hope. They feel like, ‘If this guy can get through all that shit I can deal with my shit.’ I’m just so happy to be able to be that person for people, it’s such a great thing but it’s not why I set out to do it. All these songs where it sounds like I’m talking to somebody, in a lot of cases I am specifically talking to someone in my life but they’re also always simultaneously a message to myself. I’m not an expert on any of these topics I’m not saying, ‘Here’s how you do it.’ They’re notes to myself also.” Christgau, Robert (March 11, 1997). "Consumer Guide". The Village Voice . Notes

Are you interested in the secret to happiness? E spells it out in a long, fun conversation on the new episode of Jonah Ray's Jonah Raydio podcast HERE. The fun part is making it and then after that, it’s just sort of like a job and it’s no fun. Putting a record out is the worst part of it. You just have to let go of it as much as possible once it comes out, and then you just look forward. The performing part is fun too.”
