To say that I was a depressed teenager is probably a bit of an overstatement, but suffice to say that the lyrics really resonated with me, and as I was just becoming more interested in music when I heard it, it had a huge impact on my taste. For me this album is perfect and I've been in love since I first heard "Novocaine for the Soul", Eels have been the most important band for me for most of my life, and I don't think I'd be able to judge this record objectively, but fortunately I don't have to.
